Members of the Hindu Jagaran Manch targeted the Auxilium Salesian Sisters over the construction of a private Christian cemetery and memorial chapel intended for members of the congregation. They demanded the demolition of the cemetery, alleged that it was being built next to a Hindu temple, and accused the institution of carrying out religious conversions. During the confrontation, they repeatedly demanded authorisation documents for the cemetery, declared that such activities would not be tolerated now that the BJP was in power, and threatened the nuns with violence.
