Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, speaking at the inauguration programme of the Maa Shri Purnagiri Mela-2026, said those unhappy with the development of temples and the state’s culture were interested only in Waqf properties, visitors to mazars, and land mafia allegedly encroaching on government land through “land jihad.” He cited the implementation of laws against religious conversions and riots and invoked the anti-Muslim conspiracy theories of “love jihad,” “land jihad,” and “thook jihad.” He also referred to “Operation Kalnemi” and the dissolution of the Madrasa Board, alleging that the Opposition opposed these measures due to appeasement and vote-bank politics, and asserted that they favoured people who add “Mohammad” before their names, referring to Deepak Kumar, who had prevented Bajrang Dal members from harassing a Muslim vendor.
