At a gathering organised by multiple far-right organisations in response to alleged ‘land jihad,’ BJP MLA Nitesh Rane referred to Muslims as “Jihadis” and “green snakes,” declaring that all religions are not equal in the “Hindu Rashtra” because “Hindus come first.” He spread the conspiracy of ‘land jihad,’ accusing Muslims of illegally erecting dargahs and mazaars. Rane warned, “This town is not your Abba’s Pakistan,” and said, “Your sharia law doesn’t apply here. If you want sharia law, move to Karachi or Islamabad.” He demanded that alleged illegal madrasas and dargahs demolish themselves or face “Devendra Fadnavis’s bulldozer,” and threatened violence against Muslims if they did anything to “mess with the Hindus” of the area.
