In Damoh, Police Parade Nine Muslims for Alleged Cow Slaughter After Vigilante Attack on Butcher Market

Location: Damoh, Madhya Pradesh

After pressure from far-right and cow vigilante groups, police paraded nine Muslim men for allegedly slaughtering a cow, though local butchers said it was a buffalo. In the butcher market, vigilantes attacked with sticks, calling it cow slaughter, which led to a clash between both sides. However, police acted only against Muslims, jailing them under the Animal Cruelty Act, even as officers later described the animal as a buffalo calf.
