At a Sant Sansad, far-right monk Mahant Raju Das claimed that only Hindus are truly “nationalist” and asserted that the country and its culture remain safe only while Hindus are in the majority. He alleged that Muslims do not say “Vande Mataram,” follow only their religious scripture, and are responsible for bomb blasts, “love jihad,” and “land jihad.” He demanded a nationwide ban on cow slaughter and called for temple funds to be freed from government control, claiming that mosques and churches do not contribute money. He further called for India to be made free of “mulla and maulvi,” alleging that otherwise the country would become Pakistan. He fearmongered over declining Hindu population, claiming Muslims have “three wives and thirteen children” and would eventually gain political control to end Sanatan Dharma. He further demanded that India be declared a “Hindu Rashtra,” claiming that Muslims had already received Pakistan as their nation and yet continue to expand their population in India.
