In Fatehpur, Women Hold Dev Deepawali Pooja at Historic Makbara Gate

Location: Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh

A group of women attempted to hold a Dev Deepawali pooja at the Nawab Abdul Samad Makbara, claiming it to be a temple. After the police prevented them from entering the site, they performed the pooja outside the barricades. They also called the police “dogs” and told them to behave “within a dog’s status.” Police have filed FIR against 21 women from the group. Hindu nationalists had earlier attacked and vandalised the makbara on August 11.
