BJP leader and advocate Ashwini Upadhyay addressed a gathering, where he spoke about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) initiative by the Election Commission of India. He claimed that “the biggest danger is the foreigner,” questioning who should be allowed to vote in the elections. The people of India or foreigners? He alleged that “crores of ghuspaithiya (infiltrators)” from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Myanmar are illegally voting and “deciding India’s elections.” He claimed they are “taking Indian jobs” and “consuming our resources.” Upadhyay accused local officials of helping “ghuspaithiya” obtain Aadhaar cards and argued that removing these “ghuspaithiya” would reduce “political pollution” and unemployment.
