At a public meeting, BJP MLA Nandkishore Gurjar derogatorily referred to Muslims as “jihadis,” claiming that the duty of the Gurjar community was to destroy the nation’s “enemies.” He alleged that Hindus had been persecuted and killed across Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kashmir, West Bengal, and Bangladesh, and invoked the 1990 displacement of Kashmiri Hindus and the Godhra train burning to claim that Hindus had long been victims of violence. He further accused the Samajwadi Party of alleged involvement in the Ram Mandir donation theft and of supporting the Babri Masjid, alleging that its leaders denied the existence of Lord Ram while refusing to similarly question the existence of Prophet Muhammad.
