In Gir-Somnath, Demolition of Muslim Homes and Dargah Sparks Clashes and Public Parading of Arrested Residents

Location: Gir, Somnath, Gujarat

Authorities demolished Muslim-owned houses and a dargah, claiming they were built on government land. While 11 houses and shops were torn down peacefully, locals resisted the demolition of the dargah, leading to clashes with police.

Locals clashed with police during demolitions barely a kilometre from Somnath Temple. When officials attempted to demolish a dargah, a mob pelted stones to stop them. Police responded with lathi charge and tear gas, arresting 13 people who were later paraded publicly. Authorities claimed the 12 demolished structures, including the dargah, were illegal constructions on government land.
