At a Garba event organized by Jwala Garba Mandal, VHP–Bajrang Dal leader Tannu Sharma delivered a speech peddling the anti-Muslim conspiracy theories of “love jihad” and “vidhwa jihad.” He alleged that Hindu girls who resist “love jihad,” the burqa, or conversion to Islam are found “in 36 pieces,” while those who accept it are found “wearing burqas.” He described “love jihad” as a virus that destroys families. He urged parents to monitor their daughters and warned that while the Bajrang Dal might protect them today, no one would do so later. He called on Hindu women to follow Kalka Mata, who wore a garland of severed heads.
