At a Hindu Jan Akrosh Morcha organised by Sakal Hindu Samaj, BJP MLA Sangram Jagtap demonised Muslim children by claiming they were taught from a young age to carry out “sar tan se juda” and alleged that Muslims sought to establish Sharia law. He also threatened Muslims with violence over beef consumption, warning that those who ate beef would “face the same fate as Afzal Khan.”
At the same event, far-right spiritual leader Sangram Bapu led the crowd in chanting anti-Muslim slogans, including “Uthao dande, bhagao lande” (“Pick up sticks and drive away the landiyas”), which called for the expulsion of Muslims and invoked an anti-Muslim slur.
