Far-right monk Kamal Maharaj, speaking at a public meeting, claimed that Christian missionaries are primarily responsible for religious conversions and cow slaughter. He warned anyone attempting to stop the event to “listen with open ears,” declaring that they live in a “Hindu Rashtra” and would never step back. He said those acting as “brokers (dalaal)” in cow slaughter would not be spared. Calling for a “tooth-for-a-tooth” response against Christian missionaries to end conversions, he declared that stopping cow slaughter and conversion would require “destroying all the churches.” He further called for the investigation and demolition of churches, claiming this was necessary to curb cow slaughter.
