Milind Parande, the organisational secretary of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), while speaking at an organisational meeting, peddled the conspiracy theory of “love jihad,” alleging that Muslims are attempting to create a demographic imbalance in the Hindu population. He further claimed that “illegal infiltration” (ghuspaith) is part of this broader plan and made unfounded claims that crores of Bangladeshi Muslims are residing in India and taking away employment opportunities from Hindus.
