At a Tulsi Pujan Divas event organised by VHP-Bajrang Dal, a speaker claimed that Tulsi Pujan was started ten years ago to oppose Christmas, alleging that Christians worship a plastic tree, pollute the country, work to divide it, and engage in religious conversions. The speaker also claimed that there are more churches than temples in a nearby locality. Another speaker alleged that black-coloured clothes are made and sold by Muslims to corrupt Hindus, terming it part of a conspiracy.
