In Kanpur Nagar, Armed Monk Calls Current Moment a ‘Time of War’ for Hindus

Location: Kanpur Nagar, Uttar Pradesh

At a Jagran organized by Yasoda Nagar Seva Samiti, far-right monk Madhuram Sharan Shiva, leader of the armed monks’ group Shiva Shakti Akhada, accused Hindus of weakening themselves by prioritising money and limiting childbirth. He branded Hindu women who send their children to Christian missionary schools as “traitors,” claiming they fail to raise fighters and blaming this for the decline of Hindus in Pakistan and Bangladesh, invoking the killing of Dipu Chandra Das to stoke fear. He alleged “they” have created “fifty, sixty, a hundred countries,” asserting that there was a time when only Hindus existed on Earth, but now their numbers have sharply declined. He fearmongered about an alleged demographic shift, claiming Hindus can no longer freely conduct religious events in several Indian states and that for five centuries of five lakhs of temple destruction proved that gods would not come to protect them. He urged Hindus to arm themselves for self‑protection, asserting that they take up weapons of the deity they worshipped, declaring that the coming years are a “time of war.”
