A 25-year-old utensil hawker, Akmal Hussain, was allegedly brutally assaulted and robbed in the Pothiya police station area. The attack occurred while Hussain was selling his goods door-to-door. According to the victim’s complaint, two men on a bicycle intercepted him and, upon learning his name, began labeling him an “outsider” and a “Bangladeshi.” The assailants allegedly beat Hussain with sticks and iron rods while accusing “Bangladeshis” of harassing local women. During the assault, the men snatched ₹12,000 in cash from him before fleeing.
