At an event organised by Hindu Suraksha Samiti to commemorate Direct Action Day, state president Avijit Chandra Das asserted that Hindus in Bengal could no longer live alongside Muslims. He called for Muslims to be sent to Bangladesh and accused them of indulging in “love jihad,” illegal land occupation, and misusing public resources. He also called for action against mosques and their loudspeakers, biryani and halal meat shops, and madrasas, stating that Hindu Suraksha Samiti would address these issues over the next four years. Another speaker declared that only “true nationalists” should be allowed to remain in the country and warned that those he accused of supporting Pakistan or refusing to express allegiance to India would not be allowed to stay. He invoked the Muslim League and violence during partition and called for “jihadi forces” to be “uprooted” from Bengal.
