At the Hindu Suraksha Samiti event commemorating Direct Action Day, multiple speakers delivered anti-Muslim hate speeches. A speaker demanded Muslims to “go to Pakistan,” claimed the country belonged solely to Hindus, called secularism “more toxic than cancer,” and urged the establishment of Hindutva. Another speaker asserted Madrasas would not be allowed to function in the state any further, invoked Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s idea of Bengal as Hindu homeland and said Muslims should not be allowed to remain in “Sanatani land.” Another speaker called on Hindu women to physically attack people identified as “jihadis,” including pulling their hair and assaulting anyone who intervened, and said Hindu Suraksha Samiti would “finish” the jihadis while describing West Bengal as a Hindu homeland.
