VHP–Bajrang Dal members gathered in large numbers to attack Deepak Kumar and Vijay Rawat after the two opposed Hindu nationalists and intervened to stop them from harassing a Muslim clothing vendor for naming his shop “Baba.” The members hurled derogatory anti-Muslim slurs at them and threatened to cut their nerves. The police kept both men at the police station for their protection and later dispersed the mob.
