The District Administration and the Forest Department launched an eviction drive targeting around 1,700 residential structures, including a mosque, which were alleged to have encroached upon the Lutumari reserved forest area. Residents had been notified to vacate voluntarily, and many dismantled their homes and moved to temporary camps set up by the administration.
