In Mahoba, Armed Monk Calls for War, Weaponisation of Hindu Youth

Location: Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh

Far-right monk Madhuram Sharan Shiva, leader of the armed monks’ group Shiv Shakti Akhada, brandished and demonstrated weapons, asserting that Hindus should display arms and that youth should carry weapons during Hindu festivals instead of organising bhandaras. He claimed that only through such measures could Hindus protect dharma and transform India into a “Hindu Rashtra.” He alleged that carrying weapons would prevent “vidharmis” from engaging in stone-pelting and declared that ending “adharma” would require eradicating “adharmis.” He accused Hindus who rent shops to, sell property to, or buy from “those against Hinduism” of being “false Hindus.” He urged attendees to prepare for war and prioritise increasing their population over accumulating wealth. He also spoke against slogans of communal harmony such as “harijan–Muslim bhai bhai” and “Yadav–Muslim bhai bhai.” He invoked mythical demons, including Putna and Sursha, comparing them to Christian missionaries and Muslims.
