During a Shaurya Diwas event organised by the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) to commemorate the demolition of the Babri Mosque, religious preacher Devkinandan Thakur, along with the attendees, questioned whether they should be satisfied with only one place. He declared, “Ayodhya has become ours; now it is Mathura’s turn,” and “Remove this disease; now it is Mathura’s turn.” He warned Muslims to hand over Kashi and Mathura, or else they would be taken in the same manner as Ayodhya. He further warned that those invoking Babur’s name would be sent “either to where Babur came from or to where he is now.” Participants also chanted the slogan, “Shoot the traitors of the country.”
