In Mathura, Padyatra Preachers Push Hindu Rashtra, Warn of ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind,’ and Demand ‘Radical’ Sanatan Unity

Location: Mathura, Uttar Pradesh

During the Sanatan Hindu Ekta Padyatra, religious preacher Dhirendra Shastri described the march as necessary to “protect children” from alleged future threats posed by “other religions.” He claimed that some people “want to see the crescent on the tricolour,” while he wants to see the “tricolour on the moon.” He asserted that “even their doctors are terrorists” and that “educated people also carry extremist religious ideology,” urging Hindus to raise their children as Sanatanis. He announced that the next padyatra would be held in areas where alleged religious conversions are taking place. He contrasted the yatra with Muslim processions, alleging that they involve slogans of “Ghazwa-e-Hind” and violence, whereas his focuses on unity and Sanatan dharma. He warned that “if you provoke, you will not be spared,” and asked attendees whether they wanted “Ghazwa-e-Hind or Bhagwa-e-Hind,” and “Akbar’s rule or Raghuvar’s,” while advocating for a Hindu state “of non-violence and Sanatanis.” He further claimed that only Hindus do not convert others “at swordpoint,” and said that those who “do not believe they are Sanatani” should go to Lahore, asserting that India is the land “of Ram and Krishna.” He also outlined five pledges, including making Hindus radical, preventing religious conversions, and conducting “ghar wapsi.” Shastri concluded by thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the success of the yatra.

During the Sanatan Hindu Ekta Yatra, far-right preacher Devkinandan Thakur asked the crowd whether they wanted the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple to be built, the Yamuna cleaned, cows declared Rashtra Mata, and Braj freed from meat and alcohol shops. He claimed that a Krishna idol lies beneath the staircase of the Jama Masjid in Agra, saying Hindus should not remain silent until the idol is recovered and restored. Thakur claimed Hindus are not threatened by Muslims but by “secular Hindus,” asserting that “secularism won’t work now; only Hindutva and Sanatan will.” He referred to the creation of a Sanatan Board, claiming it would be “papa” of the Waqf Board and that the Krishna Janmabhoomi case would be fought there, with “lawyer, law, and judge” all ours. Mahant Raju Das stated that the yatra would not stop “until all Hindus are united,” until cow slaughter ends, and until “all our religious sites” are “freed” from “Babur, Aurangzeb, Humayun, Akbar and those who follow chadar and father,” referring to them as “thieves, looters and rapists.” He declared that the yatra would continue until the “names of those believing in chaddar and father are erased,” asserting that “Bharat is a Hindu Rashtra, a Sanatani nation.”
