In Meerut, Hindu Groups Force Muslim Buyer Out After House Purchase Dispute

Location: Meerut, Uttar Pradesh

Hindu nationalist groups opposed the purchase of a house by a Muslim man in a predominantly Hindu neighbourhood. They staged a sit-in at the Sadar Bazar police station, recited the Hanuman Chalisa, and demanded that the property be taken back. The Muslim family was allegedly forced out, and the house was locked. Police summoned both parties to the station; however, while on the way, the Muslim buyer suffered a heart attack, reportedly due to sustained harassment. His wife said the family had bought the house months earlier with no objections, but began facing pressure only after the registration was completed. Police confirmed that the sale was legally valid and have increased security to control the situation.
