Location: Nadiad, Gujarat

At a lecture on the Constitution and Ram Rajya organised by the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Swaminarayan Sanstha, BJP leader and Supreme Court lawyer Ashwini Upadhyay claimed madrassas are unconstitutional, alleged they receive undue government funds, and said, “one madrasa can destroy the whole country.” He spread conspiracies of ‘love jihad’ and ‘land jihad’, fearmongered about demographic change and infiltration, and urged Prime Minister Modi to impose an emergency to tackle these supposed threats.
