Samik Bhattacharya, BJP Rajya Sabha MP and State President, speaking at an election campaign rally, claimed that Salt Lake/ Bidhanngar was one the most developed planned cities in India which didn’t have a single masjid but now it does under the present government. He claimed that now 2000 people walk every Friday to offer Namaaz which block the road. He termed the mosques illegal and claimed that Hindus can not play with colours on Holi on the same streets from the fear of being attacked like in Murshidabad. He claimed that ‘Rohingyas’ have settled even near DRDO, where defence equipment are designed; and even near the Police Commissionerate. He alleged that West Bengal is the only state where ‘Rohingyas’ are considered ‘welcomed guests.’
