A Muslim man named Asjad was murdered in Panipat after a man identified as Shishu Lala knocked off his skull cap. When Asjad bent to pick it up, the accused struck him on the head with a stick. Asjad was critically injured and died the next morning. Neighbours testified that Shishu Lala regularly harassed Muslims by knocking off their skull caps.
