Authorities demolished the Badi Dargah and Chhoti Dargah in a large operation with over 200 police personnel, removing 1,400 structures they termed “illegal” and alleging over 1,500 land-record alterations showing government land wrongly registered under the Waqf Board. Several Muslim residents testified that they were left homeless and insisted the shrines were centuries old and could not be “illegal.”
