In Pipalkoti, CM Dhami Defends Bulldozer Actions and ‘Land Jihad’ Narrative

Location: Pipalkoti, Chamoli, Uttarakhand

During the 24th Bund Vikas Mela, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami mentioned implementation of laws against conversion and riots, alleging taking bulldozer action against those encroaching land, the Opposition opposes due to vote bank politics. He claimed over 10,000 acres of government land had been “freed” from alleged encroachment under action against “land jihad,” accusing the Opposition of supporting them. He mentioned implementation of strict “land laws,” demolition of more than 500 “illegal” structures. He alleged that some people don’t have issue with evil practices like “love jihad,” and “thook jihad,” claiming strict action against such “ghrinit mansikta” (heinous mindsets). He alleged that individuals with a “Mullawadi” mindset conceal their identities to trap Hindu women, claiming such “jihadi mentality” disrupts social harmony. He referenced the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), asserting it would free women from what he described as centuries-old “tribal mentalities” that allowed exploitation, including practices like polygamy and halala, and alleged that opposition to these measures stems from vote-bank politics, alleging they find no fault in “jihadi’s actions”. He claimed that the government was acting against a “divisive mentality” through the dissolution of the Madrasa Board with restrictions to prescribed curriculum. Dhami stated, “In Devbhoomi, we want to establish temples of knowledge and values, not separatist centres that promote jihadi mindsets,” claiming closure of 250 madrasas, which he described as “illegal” and accused of misleading children, claiming some have issues with this too. Referring to “Operation Kalnemi,” Dhami said his government was acting against “ghuspaithiya (infiltrators), pakhandi (hypocrites), and vidharmi” elements allegedly targeting and harming Sanatan culture, warning that we will expel each and every individual and that such activities would not be tolerated in Uttarakhand.
