In Pithoragarh, CM Dhami Defends Anti-Conversion and ‘Jihad’ Laws and Madrasa Board Dissolution

Location: Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand

At the ‘Cooperative Fair’ organized on the occasion of International Cooperative Year 2025, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami highlighted the implementation of laws against religious conversion, riots, “love jihad,” “land jihad,” and “thook jihad,” and claimed that strict action was being taken against “jihadis.” He mentioned action against alleged “illegal” madrasas and stated that a bill had been introduced to dissolve the Madrasa Board, which, he said, was being opposed by the opposition. Dhami stated that in Uttarakhand, “no jihadi mentality will be allowed to flourish, nor will any school promoting terrorism be permitted to operate.” He emphasized that the government’s effort is to establish institutions providing “value-based, modern nationalist education” instead of centers giving “extremist religious teachings.” He also referenced “Operation Kalnemi,” an initiative he described as being against those targeting and harming the “Sanatan Sanskriti.” Dhami concluded by saying that if anyone opposes these decisions, the government will move forward even more strongly to implement them.
