Members of the far-right Hindu nationalist group Samast Hindu Bandhav Army assaulted a family and other tourists after objecting to an eight-year-old girl wearing Bermuda shorts. According to a complaint filed with Haveli Police Station, the girl’s father was slapped and threatened, while three men allegedly assaulted him and a woman dragged his wife. Other tourists were also allegedly slapped and struck with plastic rods while the attackers shouted, “Don’t you understand Hindu culture?”
Police registered an FIR against the alleged attackers for voluntarily causing hurt, causing hurt by dangerous means, unlawful assembly, rioting and criminal intimidation.
