At the Virat Hindu Dharam Sabha organized by Sakal Hindu Samaj, Sangram Jagtap, Nationalist Congress Party MLA, said, “no green chadar monument will be tolerated,” and spread the anti-Muslim conspiracy of ‘love jihad’. He demonised Muslims as deceitful people who pretend to gain trust but have ulterior motives. Sagar Baig, President of Shri Ram Sangh, called Muslims “Landiya” who have usurped temples and demanded the repeal of the Places of Worship Act. He claimed that Muslims, through the Waqf Board, had usurped 62 lakh acres of Hindu land to establish madrassas, which he demonised as centres of religious conversion. He fearmongered about Hindus becoming a minority in Maharashtra and in India and alleged that Muslims hold international conferences to decide where to set up illegal mazaars.
