At a meeting organised by the Hindu Jagaran Manch, Kundan Mahto, a Bangiya Hindu Jagaran leader, urged attendees to pledge that they would not allow “invaders” to turn the state into “Bangladesh”. He asserted that India is a Hindu country and claimed that Bangladeshis had previously been given refuge by Hindus.
