A mob of Hindu nationalist supporters, including BJP leader Madan Joshi, brutally assaulted a Muslim driver transporting buffalo meat from Bareilly, suspecting it to be cow meat. Police later verified the documents, and returned the meat and the truck to its owner, and filed cases against 14 attackers. Following complaints by the assailants, cases were also registered against the driver and vehicle owner under sections related to fraud and criminal intimidation.
