During a Trishul Diksha initiation organised by the VHP and Bajrang Dal on the occasion of Hanuman Janmotsav, Hindu nationalist speaker Gautam Khattar delivered a speech targeting Muslims. He claimed that “Islamic people” and “gol topi wale” are increasingly visible, contrasting this with Hindus’ alleged inability to gather even briefly, and urged Hindus to “learn from their enemies.” He declared that “dharma cannot prevail until adharma is destroyed,” and framed the distribution of trishuls as preparation for that purpose. He claimed Sanatan promotes defence, but said Hindus should not remain silent if someone targets their women. He rejected the idea of religious equality, stating that the Gita, Quran, and Bible cannot be considered equal, and that Ishwar and Allah cannot be equal. He compared such equivalence to equating a “dirty drain” with the Ganga. He claimed that Hindus, despite their majority, are the most “persecuted,” and framed Muslims as contributors to violence. He invoked historical narratives, claiming that rulers like Aurangzeb destroyed temples, and criticised the protection of Aurangzeb’s tomb by state institutions, calling it an insult to Hindus. He described such figures as having a “jihadi mentality.” He called for electing leaders who would protect cows and repeated conspiracy theories of “love jihad” and religious conversion. He cited films like The Kerala Story, Udaipur Files, Bengal Files and The Kashmir Files as reflecting real problems, and said people must now find solutions. He praised Bajrang Dal members as protectors of women, compared them to Hanuman, and claimed they are labelled as “goons” or “terrorists” for acting against “vidharmis,” asserting that such actions are justified.
