Members of Hindu Raksha Dal from Dehradun staged a protest against Darul Uloom Deoband, claiming that the site was originally a Shiv Mandir and asserting that they would reclaim it. Far-right monk Shivam Maharaj claimed that the area was previously known as “Dev-van” (forest of the Gods) according to Hindu religious scripture and vowed to take it back. Lalit Sharma, president of Hindu Raksha Dal Uttarakhand, also used derogatory language against Member of Parliament Iqra Hasan, referring to her as the “b*tch of the Mullas.”
