Lalit Sharma, state president of Hindu Raksha Dal Uttarakhand, delivered a dangerous speech calling for violence against “a specific religion,” dog-whistling about Muslims, and claimed that he and his organisation would provide full support for such acts. Speaking at the inauguration of a Hindu Raksha Dal Office, he asserted that Hindu Raksha Dal was capable of building temples over every mosque in Pakistan and, if granted a visa, would build temples “wherever they go for whatever purpose.” He claimed that people in Deoband were losing sleep out of fear that Hindu Raksha Dal would one day begin praying at the mosque there, which he alleged was originally a Shiva temple, and asserted that they would eventually offer prayers there. He further claimed that every “vidharmi” MP and MLA was afraid of Hindu Raksha Dal, declared that the organisation would continue its struggle until the last “vidharmi” remained in the country, and asserted that Muslims only understand “attack,” urging Hindus to assault them whenever they see them. Bhupender ‘Pinki’ Chaudhary, national president of Hindu Raksha Dal, claimed that no “Mulla” would become an MP if Hindus became “Hindus at heart.” He also peddled the anti-Muslim conspiracy theory of “love jihad,” alleging that Hindu women were being abducted by “jihadis.” He claimed that Muslims would “begin to flee” once Hindus openly displayed Hindu symbols such as the tilak and shikha, and blamed Hindus for allowing “jihadi mullahs” to gain power. He alleged that Muslims learned violence in mosques and madrasas, urged parents to teach their children the Hanuman Chalisa as a counter, and claimed this would prevent Hindu children from being killed and Hindu women from falling victim to “love jihad.” He also warned that Muslims would eventually ensure that no Hindus remained in Saharanpur, called for abandoning the two-child policy in favour of “we two, our five,” urged Hindus to expand their families, and declared his resolve to make India “Jihadi-free.”
