Members of the Hindu Jagran Manch, Bajrang Dal, and Durga Vahini assaulted a Muslim boy and a Hindu girl, both minors, at a cafe, accusing the boy of engaging in “love jihad.” They forced him to place slippers on his head and chant, “Love jihad is a sin, Hindu organisations are my father.”
Later, the girl’s brother took her to the police station and filed a case against the Muslim boy and his father, alleging blackmail and harassment. The police registered multiple charges, including those under the POCSO Act. However, the police claimed to be unaware of the viral videos of the assault or the involvement of Hindu nationalist organisations.
