In Siliguri, Hindu Suraksha Samiti Leader Threatens to “Tear Out the Eyeballs” of “Jihadis”

Location: Siliguri, Darjeeling, West Bengal

Abhijit Das Chandra, state president of Hindu Suraksha Samiti, during a public meeting, alleged that “jihadis” had illegally occupied land and claimed that land allegedly being used by them for agriculture in Malda had recently been reclaimed. He warned that similar action would be taken against anyone found to have illegally occupied land, stating that they would be left with “no place to return to, no home.” He promoted the conspiracy theories of “love jihad“ and land jihad” alleging that Muslim men target Hindu women and referring to the alleged sexual assault of a minor by a “jihadi.” He claimed that although the government had changed, the “jihadi mentality” had not, and threatened to “tear out the eyeballs and break the hands” of any “jihadi” who looked at Hindu women. He further claimed that cattle smugglers transporting cows for qurbani had been apprehended after the elections and asserted that, for the first time in the region, no cows were slaughtered for qurbani, which he described as the strength of Sanatanis. He also vowed to take action against alleged illegal occupiers, “Pakistan sympathisers,” and those he accused of demolishing Hindu idols.
