Members of Jatiya Sangrami Sena, led by Situ Baruah, warned a landlord to evict Bengali-Muslim labourers renting his house. When he and other local residents questioned their authority to label anyone a “suspected citizen,” Baruah declared that only “Miyas” were not allowed to stay. The group left once the landlord called the police and asked the members to present their claims to the authorities.
