Hindu Jagaran Manch leader Tanke Deka and his associates assaulted a Muslim man for being with a Hindu woman on a road near a temple, reportedly while under the influence of alcohol. During the assault, Deka claimed it was a “gift” to Muslims commenting on his profile. They forced the man to kneel before the temple and apologise, warned him against being seen with a Hindu woman again, and claimed to have called their women associates to assault the woman as well and cut her hair.
