A Muslim couple was abused by a mob over allegations of stealing wires from a solar panel. The man’s head was shaved, he was forced to strip, and he was paraded through the village along with his wife. The victims were reportedly called by the Sarpanch’s husband, Vishwanath Singh, to the panchayat bhavan to reach an agreement, where they were then caught by the mob and subjected to harassment. The man’s father filed a complaint at the police station; however, the police detained the victim on allegations of theft and did not take any action against those who harassed them, as of April 24.
