Cow vigilantes associated with Sakal Hindu Samaj chased a pickup truck carrying frozen meat for nearly 120 kilometres before intercepting it and detaining the drivers. Claiming the meat was beef, the vigilantes later used a bulldozer to destroy the vehicle and demanded that the accused be either “encountered” or prosecuted under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). During the incident, vigilantes also threatened the police with agitation and a law-and-order crisis if strict action was not taken against the accused.
