Hindu nationalist organisations, including the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Hindu Jagran Manch, held a public meeting demanding the demolition of houses belonging to those they accused of involvement in “love jihad,” following the arrest of seven individuals for alleged blackmail after a video of a Hindu girl with a Muslim boy went viral. Speakers peddled the conspiracy theory of “love jihad”, claimed that Muslim youths receive funding, and urged Hindu men to check the phones of their daughters and sisters and report any concerns to Hindu groups.
