During a Ram Navami procession organised by Sri Rama Navami Utsav Samiti, MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal invoked B. R. Ambedkar to claim that Hindus and Muslims cannot coexist peacefully. He alleged that Ambedkar had supported a complete population exchange during Partition, stating that “the last Muslim should go to Pakistan and the last Hindu should come to India,” and asserted that “they cannot live like brothers” and would always create problems. He cited incidents of stone-pelting during Hindu processions and contrasted them with Ramzan, asking whether Hindus had retaliated similarly. He warned that, as in Uttar Pradesh under Yogi Adityanath, those accused of stone-pelting would face “bulldozer action” in Karnataka, adding that if he comes to power, he would ensure strict punishment rather than “feeding them biryani,” and that they would be sent “straight up.” He rejected calls for peace, stating that “not peace, but revolution” is needed to protect dharm. He also peddled the anti-Muslim conspiracy theory of “love jihad,” alleging that Muslim men target Hindu women, force them into repeated childbirth, and later abandon them, citing examples from Kerala and Jammu and Kashmir.
