NEW DELHI – A 28-year-old Muslim man was found dead in a river three days after he was allegedly assaulted by members of the Hindu Tiger Force over accusations of sexually exploiting a woman in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district.
The victim, Aftab Ansari, a resident of Lari Kalan village, worked at a garment shop. He was allegedly attacked by 8–10 men on 23 July, and his body was discovered in the Damodar River on 26 July.
In her complaint filed at the Ramgarh police station, Ansari’s wife, Saleha Khatoon, named Deepak Sisodia, Rajesh Sinha, Manish Paswan, Pankaj Bharti, Suraj Verma, Suraj Modi, and Sanjay Bediya as the perpetrators.
According to Khatoon, the accused dragged Ansari out of the shop and brutally assaulted him. When he regained consciousness, they called the police and handed him over.
After the assault, the shop owner went to the police station to inquire about Ansari but was not provided with any information and was kept waiting until late at night.
