The Karnataka Police have registered an FIR against RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat for delivering a hate speech that promoted enmity between communities and insulted the modesty of women.
The speech was made during a programme near Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district on October 20, and the FIR was lodged on October 25.
The complaint, filed by Eshwari Padmunja, accuses Bhat of making inflammatory remarks targeting women and minority communities.
According to her, Bhat stated in his speech that Hindu women are ridiculed for “giving birth like dogs” for having more than two children, while Muslim women with larger families do not face such criticism, specifically emphasizing the need to increase the Hindu population.
He reportedly urged Hindu women to “give birth to more children,” citing that Muslim women were having more than two.
A video of the event, circulated on the YouTube channel Kahale News, shows Bhat making these statements.
Based on Padmunja’s complaint that the speech incited hatred between religious groups, the Puttur Rural Police booked Bhat and the event organisers under multiple sections, including Section 79 (insult to the modesty of a woman), Section 196 (promoting enmity between groups on religious or linguistic grounds), Section 299 (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings), Section 302 (deliberate wounding of religious sentiments), and Section 3(5) (criminal act committed by several persons in furtherance of a common intention).
