Gurgaon: Police were deployed to quell tension in Fatehpur Billoch village near Ballabhgarh after a 30-year-old Dalit labourer was allegedly shot dead by a member of another community on Wednesday night. Another Dalit man was also injured during the firing.
Devender, the deceased, had left home on a bike around 7.30pm on Wednesday and was intercepted by accused Om Prakash along with nine others, all members of his family, shortly after.
“Om Prakash’s family intercepted Devender and shot him. After Devender collapsed in the lane, the accused kept firing into the air while raising objectionable comments against our community,” Sundar Lal, Devender’s cousin, told cops in his complaint.
Hearing the gunshots, other people from their community began to gather, and the accused opened fire on the crowd, Lal alleged. Another Dalit man, Babulal, was shot in his jaw.
