At a meeting organised by the Rashtriya Brahman Seva Sangh to discuss the elopement of a girl with a Muslim boy, speakers peddled the conspiracy theory of “love jihad” and called for a boycott of Muslim-owned businesses. Mridul Krishna Shastri alleged that Muslim youths are taught to engage in “love jihad” at madrasas. Dr. Laxmi Gautam called for a ban on hotel rooms being rented to interfaith couples and boasted about vacating Muslim shopkeepers. Richa Sharma asserted that Muslims control the entire rice supply chain and alleged that this is a source of their funding.
