LUCKNOW — A Muslim man in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, has alleged that he and his family members were assaulted by a large group of people and forced to chant “Jai Shri Ram” during the confrontation.
The complainant, identified as Mohammad Sufian, named Anshu, Vikas, Ashish, Mohit and Anand among the accused. He also claimed that around 200 people were part of the group.
Sufian alleged that the incident was more than a physical altercation and that his family was targeted because of their Muslim identity.
“The group attacked me and my family members and beat all of us. They beat us mercilessly and targeted us because we are Muslim,” Sufian said.
He further alleged that the group forced him and his family to chant “Jai Shri Ram” during the assault.
A video purportedly showing the incident has circulated on social media on Thursday, prompting users to call for an investigation and action against those responsible.
One user on X wrote, “The cow vigilantes are out of control. The law won’t help as they are on the side of the vigilantes. Muslims need to organise and unite to counter the menace of cow vigilantes. There’s safety in unity and numbers. We must act now.”
Another user questioned the police response, writing, “Will the police in this case conduct a fair investigation into the allegations and take action against the guilty?”
